Recreational pot sales begin Thursday in Santa Rosa

The first adult-use sales of marijuana began in Santa Rosa Thursday when SPARC dispensary opened at 9 a.m.

The milestone comes more than three weeks after Sonoma County’s first sales of recreational pot to adults 21 and over began in Sebastopol and Cotati on Jan. 1.

SPARC on North Dutton Avenue had been waiting for its state license to begin adult-use sales. That arrived late Wednesday

Santa Rosa has two other dispensaries.

Sonoma Patient Group on Cleveland Avenue also received a state license. Previously, its owners said they expected to open for adult-use sales Friday.

Alternatives Health Collective on Hampton Way in Roseland. It had not received its state license by Wednesday.
